San Francisco, CA — Tens of thousands of people are expected to turn out tomorrow in San Francisco for the 100th anniversary of the devastating 1906 earthquake and fire.
Police say as many as 25,000 are expected for a 4:30 a-m ceremony at Lotta´s Fountain. It´s the city´s oldest surviving monument to the disaster. More than a dozen survivors from 100 to 109 years old are scheduled to appear.
The hourlong pre-dawn ceremony will include a moment of silence honoring the dead at 5:12 a-m. That´s when the earthquake was said to have hit.
A parade recognizing the anniversary will get underway at 10 a-m.
