Sonora, CA — If you recall the Robin Williams movie “Patch Adams,” you´ll have an opportunity to meet the real Hunter “Patch” Adams at the Tuolumne County Fairgrounds Wednesday.
Adams, who is both a medical doctor and a clown, will be the keynote speaker at Here´s To Your Health, a community health symposium which gets underway with a 9:30AM welcome by District 1 Supervisor Liz Bass and County Health Officer Todd Stolp. Adams will serve as both a speaker and a moderator during the day-long event.
Over a 30 year period, Adams has fashioned himself as a social activist devoted to changing America´s healthcare system, a system he describes as expensive and elitist.
Also appearing at the symposium will be medical ethicist Dr. Lofty Basta who gained notoriety for voicing his perspective on medical ethics during the Terry Schiavo case. Basta is currently a professor at the University of California-San Francisco and a respected speaker on topics of end-of-life care.
Admission is free and open to the public.
