No More Ballot Punching For Calaveras Voters

San Andreas, CA — The June primary will feature a new voting system for Calaveras County.

Come June 6, Calaveras voters will be filling in bubbles instead of the old punch card method.

The changes are thanks to the Help America Vote Act, a complete revamp of the nation´s voting process.

Calaveras went with a new system that has voters selecting their choice by filling in a bubble. For the disabled, there are AutoMARK machines that do the marking for them.

Once marked, the ballots will be put into a tabulating machine on site. That machine is then taken to the county Government Center for a final total.

The county Elections Department will have the new system on hand at the county fair for demonstrations.
