Tuolumne City, CA — This Monday marks a very special day in the history of two north American tribes; the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians and the Yavapai Apache Nation from northern Arizona´s mesa verde region.
It was five years ago the Yavapai Apache Nation provided guidance, financial assistance and economic development modeling to the Me-Wuk Indians as they embarked on a plan of economic self-reliance.
Within that five year span, the Me-Wuk Indians have developed a new health center, public security, expanded education, social service and planning and housing departments.
At noon today there will be a celebration including a tribal gift exchange at Black Oak Casino.
