Farmers Market Drew Hundreds To Downtown Sonora

Sonora, CA — Hundreds of Mother Lode residents are enjoying the fresh produce they bought at the first Farmers Market of the season.

Dozens of vendors set up early between Stewart and Shepherd Street Saturday in anticipation of a large crowd.

Organizers say it is a certified farmers market, so anyone planning to selling produce has to be certified through the Department of Agriculture to prove that they have grown their crops in California.

But for those vendors who didn´t make it to the Ag Department, they can still sell everything from coffee and olive oil, to frozen salmon and local beef.

The Farmers Market will run every week through the end of October.
