Sonora, CA — Weekend visitors to Stanislaus National Forest are in luck.
The Forest Service says that most campgrounds and picnic areas below 6,500 feet will be open for Memorial Day weekend.
At higher elevations of the Forest, preparations for the summer outdoor recreation season are underway, with 53 developed campgrounds scheduled to open as increasingly warm temperatures melt this year´s heavy snow pack.
Forest visitors are encouraged to contact local Ranger Stations for current information on changing conditions, and the best places to camp.
