Sacramento, CA — Tuolumne and Calaveras counties are two of 17 California counties in line for federal disaster funds.
Stanilaus County is also on the list. President Bush has declared a major disaster exists in the state and he´s ordered federal funds be made available to restore areas hit hard by this year´s storms.
The federal funding is available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis.
The funds are meant for emergency repair and replacement work of facilities damaged by the storms. Federal funding is also being made available for hazard mitigation measures statewide.
