Sonora, CA — Final Tuesday night election results failed to materialize in Tuolumne County.
County Auditor-Controller Deborah Russell said a problem with the final count from the Me Wuk area along with uncounted absentee and provisional ballots and the closeness of several races delayed any final results.
Here are the tentative results for Tuolumne County: in the District 2 Supervisors race, incumbent Paolo Maffei leads Larry Sidmore 51-47%. In the District 3 race, Terry Murrison leads the pack by a wide margin with 38% of the vote. Her nearest challenger is Philip Balbuena with 18%.
In the Tuolumne County sheriff´s race, Jim Mele has a shade over 49% of the vote … the nearest contender is Tom Memmer with 25%.
Russell adds there could be a number of run-off elections once the final results have been tabulated.
Measure P, the one-half of 1% sales tax earmarked for the Sheriff´s Department and county fire protection was defeated by a margin of 54% to 45%.
Russell says the final results should be known in the next several days.
