Sonora, CA — Saturday, just before the noon hour, a grass fire broke out on the north side of Hwy. 108 adjacent to the west bound Mono Way exit.
A C.D.F.-Tuolumne County Fire Department helicopter responded along with several engines and 17 firefighters to fight the one-quarter acre fire.
Ray Holm of the C.D.F.-Tuolumne County Fire Department reported the road side fire was contained well before it had any opportunity to reach the top of the hill and possibly damage any homes.
Cause of the fire is under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the C.D.F.-Tuolumne County Fire Department at 754-3831.
