Valley Springs, CA — Despite some public objection, the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Monday approved a 700-unit mini storage facility in Valley Springs.
A handful of Valley Springs residents opposed the project based on its impacts to local roads, proximity to residences, and increase to surface water runoff.
However, the board decided those impacts could be mitigated now and in the future development of the site.
The vote was 3-1-1 with Supervisor Tom Tryon absent and Supervisor Victoria Erickson abstaining. Erickson, who is up for re-election, says she unknowingly took a contribution from the property owner.
The storage facility will be located at Highway 26 and Covey Lane across from La Contenta.
