Sonora, CA — Close to 200 Tuolumne County students are more technologically savvy thanks to a program called TechYES.
Sandy Fash with Generation Y says both Sonora and Summerville Elementary schools had students who participated in the technology program.
TechYES is a student technology literacy program designed for grades 6-9. The 135 Sonora students and the 50 Summerville students who completed two projects that met TechYES requirements were issued certifications, stating that they were up to date in the use of current technology.
Fash says that although the program is available to any school, Sonora and Summerville qualified for a grant and were not required to pay for the program.
