Sonora, CA– A suicide attempt is over thanks to the actions of the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department.
Sunday a 51-year-old male phoned in reporting holding a high powered rifle to his own head. When deputies arrived at the Big Hill residence, they set up a perimeter around the area. Officials say a sheriff´s dispatcher, was able to talk the suspect out of his house over the phone, where he was taken into custody.
The suspect did not have a gun on him, but three fully loaded weapons were found during the search of the residence, one of the weapons falls under the assault weapons ban. The suspect will face various weapons charges and was taken to Tuolumne General Hospital for a mental evaluation. There were no injuries and no shot were fired.
