Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department´s Search & Rescue Team has been gearing up for the summer season.
Coordinator Deputy Dan Crow says part of that is helicopter training.
On June 10th, new members learned how to rig the helicopter for a “Short Haul” and Crow says Short Hauling is used to move an injured party from an area where rescuers are unable to carry them out, or the injuries are severe and they can´t be carried out.
They also leaned how to rappel from the helicopter, in case there is no landing zone. Crow says volunteers are always needed and more information can be heard this weekend on Mother Lode Views.
