Sacramento, CA — The Highway Patrol reports 38 people were killed by traffic collisions across the state this four-day Independence Day weekend.
That´s down from 45 fatalities during the three-day holiday weekend last year.
1,731 people were arrested for driving under the influence this year, up from 16-hundred in 2005.
Officer Tom Wills reports there were no fatalities in Tuolumne and only three motorists were arrested for driving under the influence.
