Car Theft Results In Several Charges For Sonora Woman

Sonora, CA — A 20-year-old Sonora woman has a lot to explain after being arrested and charged with six different offenses.

Over the weekend an officer from the Sonora Police Department saw a car that matched a vehicle reported stolen out of Columbia earlier in the day.

The officer, along with two others, stopped the car and detained the driver, Lacey Lawson. During a search of the vehicle, several checks from different bank accounts were located.

Some prescription medications were also found in the vehicle. All of the items were determined stolen from other vehicles or mailboxes, prior to the theft of the car. Lawson admitted to stealing the vehicle from the Columbia area; however she claimed she didn´t know where the checks or medication came from.

Lawson was transported to the Tuolumne County Jail and booked for; vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, forgery, burglary, possession of forged documents, and driving on a suspended drivers license.
