Gerald Ralph Fields, age 84, died on December 16, 2025, in Sonora, California. He was born on November 6, 1941, in Glendale, California and was the oldest child of Roland Dale Fields (1919-1989) and Barbara June Watson (1920-2002).
After graduating from Sonora Union High School in 1959, he moved on to Modesto Junior College to major in agricultural studies.
Having studied surveying in college he met the prerequisites for a surveyor’s position for the City of San Francisco at their Moccasin, California headquarters office. Over the many years of his career, he advanced forward\to becoming an inspector. He happily retired after 47 years.
In 1963 he married Pamela Jean Reece of Jamestown. This union brought forth 3 sons and 2 daughters. For many y9ars they raised their children in the community of Moccasin. Later they moved to the family property in Jamestown called the Last Dime Ranch. Throughout their 51-year marriage Jerry and Pam enjoyed traveling the country with their family. Jerry liked to follow the least used highways to find the sites often missed by other more timid souls. Family followed wherever Jerry led, even when the roads sometimes were a little scary.
He was preceded in death by his dear wife Pam in 2014.
Jerry then met Connie Chaney and were married in Jamestown in 2016. Jerry would always surprise Connie in going on new and exciting adventures, including Borrego Springs.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Joyce Fields of Jamestown. He is survived by his wife Connie; brother Edward Fields (Sherri) of Sonora; and children Deborah Walter (Eric) of Modesto, Sherry Blackledge (Steve) of Jamestown, Richard Fields (Charity) of Jamestown, James Fields of Jamestown and Stephen Fields (Michelle) of Kennewick, Washington. Jerry felt blessed with his 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his step children Lisa Lapa of Wyandotte, Michigan and Billy Tee of Yucaipa California.
The funeral will be held on December 29, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Jamestown Cemetery located at the comer of Woods Way and Highway 108.
