Virginia “Ginny” Ayers
January 9, 1947 – June 3, 2026

Virginia “Ginny” Ayers—beloved friend, mother, grandmother, sister, colleague, and occasional instigator of harmless mischief—passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, at the age of 79. She is survived by her son Ian and his wife Jessica, her “daughter” Melissa, her grandson Evan, her sister Marilyn, and her brothers William and Donald.

Born on January 9, 1947, Ginny lived a life filled with laughter, adventure, and kindness. She spent many years at Tuolumne Utilities District, where she was known not only for her dedication but also for brightening the workday with her quick wit and laughter.

Retirement simply gave Ginny more time to do what she loved most: travel the world, meet new people, and collect enough adventures to keep everyone entertained. Whether she was exploring a faraway destination or sharing a laugh with friends at home, Ginny had a gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and thoroughly amused.

Ginny will be remembered for her generous heart, her sharp sense of humor, and her unwavering love for family and friends. She leaves behind countless cherished memories, a trail of laughter, and more than a few stories that probably shouldn’t be repeated in polite company.

A celebration of Ginny’s life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Fleming Home. Please call 209-770-8900 for details. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those wishing to honor her memory perform an act of kindness for someone else and share a laugh in Ginny’s honor.

Though she may be gone from our sight, Ginny’s friendship, laughter, and love will remain in our hearts forever.
