Paul Edward Marquette

Paul Marquette passed away on June 6, 2024 with his wife and daughters by his side at his home in Sonora.
Paul Edward Marquette was born on November 6, 1939 to Harold and Louise Marquette in Oakland, California. At a very young age the family moved to Sonora and this is where he made his lifetime home. Paul enlisted in the united states army in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1968, serving in Hawaii and Korea. He was a member of the Jehovah’s witnesses and enjoyed his years of service and fellowship. Paul became a father in 1957 and had four sons and then on November 27, 1971 he married the love of his life, Kathleen dues. Kathi had 2 daughters and they were adopted by Paul, together Paul and Kathi had 2 daughters.
Paul’s long work history started as a florist at mallard’s nursey that was adjacent to the family property, he was also a grave digger and then became a logger and this was his true passion. He loved being in the mountains. After his severe logging injury in 1991, he had to stop falling timber and then had his own landscaping business, Pauls’ garden design and finally when he and Kathi moved to Columbia, he was the assistant park manager and finally retired at the age of 80.
Paul was a hardworking, dedicated man who loved his wife and family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to be loved and cared for by him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Louise Marquette, his siblings, Harold Marquette, Nellie Howard, his oldest son Michael (surviving spouse sandy, children, Jesse, Amy and Christy) his bff-partner in crime-brother-in-law, bobby dues, his daughters, dawn Ried (children, Michael, Meagan, Emilee and Jordan), Stacy Jarman (children, Jessica and Lori), his sweet and beloved granddaughter, Mallory Marquette Saueressig and the recipient of the son-in-law of the year award, Joel Lafayette.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathi of 52 years, his sons Russell (spouse, Myrna, children, Russell, Jennifer, Chelsea and Eli) Marquette of Montana, Brian (spouse Tracy and daughter Kelly) Marquette of Sonora, David Marquette (son Dylan) of hayward, daughters, Heather (spouse Robert, children, Ashlynn, Austin and Nyah) of Sonora and misty (spouse Josh, children, Kira, Jack and Claire) of Jamestown. A total of 22 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren with another granddaughter due in October.
A celebration of life will be held from 3:00-5:30, Saturday June 21, 2024 at Inner Sanctum Basecamp, 22004 Parrotts Ferry Road, Columbia, Ca.
The family would like to thank in home hospice care and especially to Denise Burnett for the amazing care they gave to our papa.
