Donna Johnson passed away Tuesday, February 6th after a short battle with cancer at her residence in Sonora, CA. She was born in Burbank, California on April 26, 1944. Known to most as Ma, Teacher Donna to some, even “the Jelly Queen of Tuolumne County” to others or perhaps just Donna and lastly, just Mom. She was raised in Standard, California and graduated from Sonora Union High School. Working for many years at the Plywood Plant in Standard, following its closure she became a local preschool teacher. Finally before retiring she was a “yellow jacket” at the Black Oak Casino. Those who knew her will remember a kind and caring person who loved family and friends wholeheartedly. Donna loved to read, crochet, play cards, plants and flowers. She enjoyed country music, rock ‘n roll and was a die-hard Raiders fan. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, loved the mountains and was thrilled at making her costume each year for the local Fantasy Faire. She had always loved the days of riding with her husband Ed on their Harley Davidson and yes, they were really there at Altamont Speedway when the Rolling Stones played. However to those that knew her best will remember that Donna was all about frogs, hugs, kids, cats, dogs but especially friends and family. Donna is survived by a sister, Susan Leedom; a son, Shaun Johnson; daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Mark Mutzner; two grandchildren, Nicolas and Hailey Johnson; great-grandchildren, Grace Maria and Caden, her Aunt Norma (Brillhart) Elhers and many other family members to numerous to mention and a host of friends and naturally the O-F Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Lorraine (Brillhart) Siegel; a sister, Nancy Siegel; and ex-husband Ed Johnson. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.
