Burnis “Bud” W. Breland passed away Wednesday, May 30th at Adventist Health Sonora, Sonora, CA. Heuton Memorial is handling arrangements.
Bud was born on September 12, 1929 in New Augusta, MS to Opal and Ester John Breland. He was raised and received his education in McLain, MS.
Bud was an electrician in the US Navy and National Guard during the Korean War from 1948 – 1952.
Bud was a projectionist at the Sonora Theater for 23 years, the children all new him well prior to his retirement in 1985.
He married the love of his life, Kathleen (Kay) Remoaldo on May 13, 1950 in Oakland, California. They resided in Fremont, CA prior to moving to Sonora, CA.
Bud’s special interests included restoring a 1930 Model A with his son Mark, as well as restoring scales and coffee grinders. In addition, he enjoyed hunting.
Bud is preceded in death by his parents, Opal and Ester John Breland; his siblings, Bette McLendon, Estelle McLendon, Norma Schneider, and Sonny Breland.
Bud is survived by his loving wife Kathleen “Kay” Breland, his children, Debra Lucas, Kimberley Lopez, and Mark Breland. Also surviving are his five grandchildren; Brian Majors, Stacey Klein, Joseph Lopez, Kelli Abrescy, Jamie Lucas; and nine great grandchildren; Tyler, Devin, Hannah, Derek, Sadie, Carter, Hudson, Deacan and Kora.
