Law enforcement activity in Tuolumne where a man was reportedly taken into custody without incident
Update at 8:15 a.m.: The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office remains on the scene of a standoff in Tuolumne this morning, but the suspect has been apprehended. The event started about 3 a.m. when sheriff’s deputies were called to an apparent domestic violence incident where a man was holed up inside his residence. Then, around 5:15 a.m., sheriff’s officers announced on social media that portions of Gardner Avenue and Carter, Madone, and Rozier streets were temporarily blocked due to the incident. Sheriff’s authorities announced around 7:45 a.m. that the individual had given himself up without incident at around 5:30 a.m. and that all road restrictions had been lifted. They also stated that deputies will continue to investigate at the scene “for the time being,” adding, “There is NO danger to the public.”
Original post at 6:14 a.m.: Tuolumne, CA — The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office remains on the scene of a “law enforcement operation” in Tuolumne this morning.
Few details are being released regarding the incident that happened around 3 a.m. Then at 5:15 a.m. Sheriff’s officials posted on social media:
“The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting a law enforcement operation in the Tuolumne City area. Parts of Gardner Avenue, Carter Street, Madone Street, and Rozier Street have been closed temporarily. Please avoid the areas, as there is an increased law enforcement presence.”
What we know so far is that a man was holed up in a residence. Reportedly, at around 5:30 a.m., he came out of the home and gave himself up without incident. Currently, no further information is being released. This is a breaking story, and an update will be provided as soon as new information comes into the newsroom.
