Update at 2:14 p.m.: The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office updates that Calaveras County Bomb Squad members are on scene at the apartment complex in Jamestown, assessing a grenade found in one of the units and how best to dispose of it. Update at 1:15 p.m.: Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office deputies remain on the scene in Jamestown, where an explosive device has been found at an apartment complex, forcing the evacuation of residents. Deputies responded to the scene at 11:31 a.m. at the building located off of Preston Lane after a report of a “possible explosive device that was found.” Sheriff’s spokesperson Ashley Boujikian updates that the device was a grenade and it was discovered in one of the units. She added, “Due to these types of explosive devices frequently being unstable, our deputies evacuated the nearby apartments and contacted the Calaveras County bomb squad to respond and assist with safely disposing of the device.”
Original post at 12:48 p.m.: Jamestown, CA — Tuolumne County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a possible explosive device at a Jamestown apartment building.
They responded to the scene at 11:31 a.m. at the complex off of Preston Lane after a report of a “possible explosive device that was found.” Sheriff’s spokesperson Ashley Boujikian reports, “Deputies are actively evacuating nearby apartments in the area.”
