Structure Destroyed In Mariposa County Early Morning Christmas Day Fire

Published Dec 31, 2025 12:19 pm

Mariposa County, CA – A structure was destroyed in an early morning Christmas Day fire near Lake Don Pedro in Mariposa County.

The flames broke out around 2:13 a.m. near Highway 132 at the Hayward Road intersection. When firefighters arrived, including two units from the Tuolumne County Fire Department (TCFD), the structure was fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews spent multiple hours dousing the structure with water until all hot spots were out.

“The high wind conditions were extreme, and it made the incident challenging to extinguish prior to the heavy rain arriving,” noted TCFD officials.

The mutual aid request involved the two TCFD units, including volunteer-staffed Water Tender 618, and they were released from the fire around 5:30 a.m.
