Sonora, CA — City leaders in Sonora will hear an update on planning efforts to improve some parking lots and sidewalks in the downtown area.
It is the first item of new business on Monday’s council meeting. Included are plans to update the Church/Stewart and Lyons/Stewart parking lots, as well as make enhancements to the Farmers Market sidewalks.
All three combined would cost around $1.73 million dollars. Click here to view the full report.
Another item on the agenda is a vote to hire Dewberry Engineers Inc. to prepare a 2027 Active Transportation Program grant application to help fund a “Sonora Moves Downtown Plaza and Regional Connectivity Project.”
City documents note, “The project will construct a new, continuous, safe, and ADA-compliant bicycle and pedestrian passage to/from public parking lots at the intersection of S Stewart and Bradford Street to the newly constructed transit hub and planned Gold Rush Path at the intersection of S Green Street and SR 49. This will be accomplished through improvements on three connecting streets: S Stewart Street, Linoberg Street, and S Green Street.”
The city would look to acquire available grant money for the project’s planning and construction (estimated to cost $4 million).
The meeting starts Monday, January 5, at 5 pm, at City Hall.
