Tuolumne County Chamber Takes Stand On Ballot Measures

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Chamber´s Governmental Affairs Council has come out with its stand on several propositions on the November 8th special election ballot.

Chamber President George Segarini says the chamber goes through a close analysis of the issues before expressing support or non-support.

A report says that the chamber supports Proposition 74 which increases the time period for teachers to achieve tenure from two to five years.

It also supports Prop 75, or the so-called “paycheck protection measure” which prohibits unions from using dues for political contributions without the employees´ prior consent.

Also supported is Proposition 76 which would modify the state´s budget process and improve funding to education.

The chamber has also voiced support for Prop 77, which would redraw California´s voting districts.

Locally, the chamber stands in support of Measure “L” which would create a Tuolumne County Resource Conservation District.

Meanwhile, the committee has expressed opposition to Propositions 78 and 79, which would establish a discount prescription drug program overseen by the Department of Health Services.

The chamber has taken no position on the parental consent Proposition 73, and Proposition 80, which would put electric service providers under the regulation of California Public Utilities.
