Thursday Is The Day To Become A Master Gardener

Sonora, CA — The opportunity to become a Master Gardener is coming back to Sonora after three years.

The program is a volunteer organization that trains new Master Gardener candidates once every three years.

Coordinator Rebecca Miller-Cripps says they will collaborate with three counties, Tuolumne, Calaveras and Amador to train people starting in January.

Cripps says the orientation is this Thursday at the Veterans Hall at 10:00am and again at 6:30pm. Master Gardeners have to complete 50 hours of horticulture training, complete a comprehensive written test with a passing grade of 70 percent or better, be finger printed and they also have to donate 50 hours of activity back into the community in their first year and a half in the program.
