House fire in Valley Springs—CCF photo
Valley Springs, CA—A disabled woman, along with her pets, was trapped inside her Valley Springs home last night after a fire broke out.
When firefighters, including Calaveras County Fire (CCF), arrived at the scene on Pastorello Court in the Rancho Calaveras subdivision of Valley Springs, flames were coming from inside the home’s laundry room and shooting out onto the porch. They quickly rushed into the home and rescued a woman in a wheelchair, unable to escape the burning house. CCF reports she was treated for minor smoke inhalation.
Firefighters also located several cats, dogs, and newborn chicks in a cardboard box inside the house and rescued them all safely. CCF praised neighbors who, before their arrival, doused the porch with a garden hose. Firefighters contained the blaze to the laundry room and the porch. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
