Pair of Fires Kept Officials Busy Sunday

Jenny Lind, CA — There were two smaller fires that officials responded to on Sunday, the first near Jenny Lind in Calaveras County, and later on Highway 108 in Tuolumne County.

The Paso Fire ignited during the two o’clock hour on Sunday in the 7600 block of Paso Drive in Calaveras County. Initially, it was reported as a structure fire, but the first responders later learned it was a half-acre vegetation fire. It was quickly contained. The cause is not immediately known.

A couple of hours later, during the four o’clock hour, the Rock Fire ignited off Highway 108, west of J-59.

The fire damaged a vehicle and spread into some nearby vegetation. Mop-up efforts were ongoing afterward. No additional information has been immediately released.
