The Smallpox Vaccination from the Federal Government has made its way to Tuolumne County.
Kathy Amos with the Tuolumne County Health Department says the county received 100 doses of the vaccine today. She adds that the vaccine will be used only on personnel who would respond if there were terrorist attacks involving the virus. Fewer than 60 workers will probably be inoculated because of a rigorous screening process.
If county supervisors sign off on the plan on Tuesday, health officials hope to begin the inoculations in March.
There is no actual cost to local government for the vaccine, because it was paid for at the federal level.
