New Casino Sign Approved By Supervisors

Motorists traveling along Highway 108/Mono Way near Mother Lode Motors in Sonora will soon see a new sign for the Black Oak Casino.

The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors yesterday agreed to lease property to the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians for a directional sign, pointing visitors to the tribe’s casino in Tuolumne City.

Environmental coordinator Bev Shane says the 12-foot-tall by 8-foot-wide sign has undergone the county’s California Environmental Quality Act or CEQA review.

Rent to the tribe for the space is $3,000 a year. That money will go into the Tuolumne Tribal Casino Road Improvement and Maintenance Fund.
