Some Air Tankers Return To Base

Copperopolis, CA — Crews are getting a handle on a vegetation fire burning in Copperopolis.

It is still listed as 40-50% contained and 18 acres. However, CAL Fire spokesperson Lisa Williams points out that some of the air tankers are being allowed to return back to base. The fire is in the 4500 block of Chuckwagon Drive. The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office reports that no evacuation orders are in place. Fire officials are expected to remain on scene for an extended period. The fire was reportedly started by a tree falling into a power line.
