Pinecrest, CA — Some Forest Service Roads near the Power Fire are closed today.
Forest Service Roads 5N95 at Beardsley Road and 5N32 at Highway 108 are closed to all vehicles except firefighting apparatus and logging trucks. Forest Service officials say it is being done as a precaution to ensure safe vehicle traffic for firefighters and pedestrians. Officials report this morning that the fire is 40% contained and 925 acres. There are no evacuation orders in place. Recreational areas, businesses and highways are open for the weekend travelers. Much of the smoke has also started to dissipate in the area.
As reported previously, firefighters benefitted earlier this week from a DC-10 that was called in to assist. It was able to drop 12,000 gallons of fire retardant at one time. The video above was shot as the plane made its way over Pinecrest Lake.
