Sonora High School Closing

Sonora, CA — Sonora High School is closing early due to the Rim Fire, but not because of the smoke. The school will close at 12:30pm so their buses can be used.

Sonora High School Principal Todd Dearden says, “We received word that the Transportation Emergency Operation Plan is now in effect which means they may have need for our buses to assist in any evacuations.” The approved 2011 CDF Stratigic Fire Plan for Tuolumne and Calaveras is here.

Dearden says the transportation of students will begin at 1:10pm and then the buses will available for evacuation efforts.

Belleview Elementary School is also closing at 12:45pm due to smoke from the Rim Fire. Columbia College’s Main Campus will be closed on Monday. You can click here to get a full list of closures in the area.
