Rim Fire: Overnight Focus On Tioga Road

Tuolumne County, CA — The Incident Command says there has been minimal growth on the Rim Fire over the past 24 hours.

The IC reports that an updated acreage estimate is not available this morning because last night’s infrared flight was grounded due to mechanical difficulties. 2,495 structures remain threatened and 3,975 firefighters are still on scene.

Officials report that the containment lines are holding well on the southeast flank, and planned burnout operations took place last night near Tioga Road. Today the fire is expected to advance towards Tioga Road and areas burned out last night. The IC reports that crews are currently working to improve containment lines on the north flank as well, as projected winds of 18-25 mph out of the south-southeast could pose issues.

There are no longer any advisory evacuation notices in effect for Tuolumne or Mariposa Counties.
