Rim Fire Transition Underway

Tuolumne County, CA — The Rim Fire spike camp at Drew Meadow will close today, and the Incident Command Post in Tuolumne City will close tomorrow.

At 6am Friday, Type III response teams from Yosemite and the Stanislaus National Forest will take over the lead of fire operations from the current Type II Incident Commander David Cooper.

The Fire is holding at 257,134 acres, but is still listed as 84% contained. Firefighters will continue to monitor the blaze in the Yosemite and Emigrant Wilderness region where there is still not full containment. The fire activity is limited to light smoldering given the recent rain and cooler temperatures.
