Sonora, CA — Designating public land to an endangered frog and toad has prompted Tuolumne County leaders to send a second letter of objection to the US Fish and Wildlife Service. For an earlier story on the first letter click here. The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously today to send further comments to the Federal Agency regarding proposed protected species designations of the Yellow Legged Frog and Yosemite Toad.
Deputy County Administrator Daniel Richardson outlined key issues in the new letter to the Board. Richardson says, “The Board request that if they are going to set aside this habitat, that this habitat be limited to those exact areas where they actually have found the Yosemite Toad and Yellow Legged Frog, not just a wide swath of wilderness or forest area.”
The letter also requests the US Fish and Wildlife Service to conduct a hearing or meeting with the Board in Tuolumne County.
