Update: Blaze In Calaveras County An Escaped Debris Burn

Update: The fire between Avery and Arnold was contained at two acres.

Update at 7:10  p.m.: Fire crews will continue working into the night on an escaped debris burn in Calaveras County, between Avery and Arnold. There is no word from CAL Fire regarding the fire’s size or rate of spread, but the PG&E live cameras show that the plume of smoke from the area has continued to decrease. The flames spread from a debris burn to nearby grass on a Moran Road property near Love Creek Road, south of Highway 4 Just before 6 p.m.

Update at 6:30 p.m.:  Firefighters are working on an escaped debris burn in Calaveras County, between Avery and Arnold. There is no word from CAL Fire as to whether crews are getting a handle on the blaze, but the PG&E live cameras show that the plume of smoke from the area is getting smaller. Also, no size or rate of spread has been reported.

The flames spread from a debris burn to nearby grass on a Moran Road property near Love Creek Road, south of Highway 4 Just before 6 p.m. The CHP notes that its officers are directing traffic in the area and ask that motorists avoid the area.

Original post at 5:40 p.m.: Calaveras County, CA– Air and ground resources are heading to a vegetation fire in Calaveras County, between Avery and Arnold.

CAL Fire report it is an escaped debris burn where the flames spread to nearby grass on Moran Road near Love Creek Road, south of Highway 4. There is no word on the fire’s size, the flames’ rate of spread, or whether any structures are threatened at this time. An update will be provided as soon as new information comes into the newsroom.
