Vegetation Fire Contained

Sierra Village, CA — A vegetation fire near Lyons Dam off Highway 108 in Tuolumne County is now contained at 3.3 acres.

The flames broke out around three yesterday afternoon east of Sierra Village. Cal Fire Capt. Mike Spear says,   “The steep terrain made it difficult for firefighters to get a containment line all the way around the flames.”  Firefighters got a handle on the blaze around 6 p.m. Friday when they stopped the forward rate of spread.

Cal Fire says two engines, one hand crew and a water tender will remain on the scene today checking for hot spots.  No structures were threatened in the blaze.
