Tuolumne County, CA — Cal Fire reports the J-59 Fire has grown from 250 to 500 acres and is 50% contained.
The flames broke out around noon today on J-59 and Bonds Flat Road near Lake Don Pedro. Crews have been battling the blaze from the ground and air.
Cal Fire Spokesperson Lisa Williams says, “The forward rate of spread has been stopped. We will have resources out on the scene tonight. We will run a night shift and a day shift tomorrow.”
There are no injuries or any word on what sparked the blaze. Battling the fire are four tankers, two helicopters, seven engines, a dozer and two hand crews.
