Scaling Back Oak Fire Response

Angels Camp, CA — The number of firefighters on scene of the Oak Fire is dropping significantly.

The fire situated between Copperopolis and Angels Camp is around 85 acres and 90% contained. It was first spotted on Sunday afternoon on top of a ridge near Riata Way, Hunt Road and Pool Station Road. CAL Fire reports that 51 firefighters are on scene this morning, and five engines. At one point there were around 350 firefighters assigned. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
