Sonora, CA – – Several large northern California fires are creating smoky skies in the Mother Lode. Firefighters are battling blazes in several counties. The Eiler Fire in Shasta County has burned just over 31,000 acres and is 40% contained. The Day Fire in Modoc County is 13,047 acres and 80% contained. The Lodge LCA Fire in Mendocino County is 4,300 acres and 20% contained.
In addition, National Forest Service crews are working on the French Fire in Madera County in the Sierra National Forest. The flames have spread to 13,835 acres and it is 70% contained.
