Making Progress On Junction Fire

Oakhurst, CA — The flames are 35% contained with 612 acres burned in the Junction Fire near the town of Oakhurst.   Eight structures have been destroyed and 500 are still threatened.

Cal Fire reports some of the more than 1,000 people evacuated yesterday have returned to their homes.  The mandatory evacuation orders have been lifted for all areas west of Highway 41, but orders remain in effect east of Highway 41. Several schools in the area are closed today.

Around 2,200 firefighters are on scene.
