King Fire Arson

Pollock Pines, CA – El Dorado County Sheriff’s officials have arrested a man for arson in the King Fire.

37-year-old Wayne Huntsman was arrested yesterday in Placerville. Sheriff’s officials say the fire was set in steep terrain near the Pollock Pine community. Huntsman’s bail has been set at $10 million dollars.

The fire is 70,994 acres and just 5% contained. 12,000 homes are still threatened by the flames.

Firefighters continue to make progress on the Courtney Fire in Oakhurst south of Yosemite National Park. The fire is now 70% contained and remains at 320 acres. All evacuation orders were lifted last night. 30 homes have been destroyed in the blaze.

 

In Yosemite, the Meadow Fire is now 85% contained at 4,772 acres. All trails in the Little Yosemite Valley area remain closed except for the Half Dome trail. Also, the Little Yosemite Valley campground has been re-opened.
