As Fall brings cooler temperatures and finally a little rain, this weekend should be dry enough for several events across the Mother Lode.
This Saturday, Ironstone Vineyards will be hosting the 18th annual Concours d’Elegance vintage car show from 10 AM until 4 PM. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 3 PM. This year’s show will feature nearly three hundred original classics, including vehicles from the early 1900′s through the mid-seventies and a few vintage and rare race cars. The purpose of the Concours d’Elegance, in addition to entertaining car buffs, is to raise funds for 4-H and Future Farmers of America.
As reported earlier Mark Twain Medical Center is hosting a Health Fair on Saturday. The event is held on the day of a 5K Fun Run Against Cancer. Details about the run are here.
The 10th Anniversary Celebration Open House at Sonora Fire Museum
will also be held on Saturday at the Sonora Fire Museum & Senior Lounge, Kids activities include mini bucket brigade and target knockdown, and they will be demonstrating how the 1876 hand pumper works. Details here.
The Tuolumne County Museum at 158 Bradford Street in Sonora will also host Museum Day activities on Saturday from 11am to 2pm. View their recent digital addition to the Native-American collection, new displays featuring Gold Country Black Heritage, Mexican Heritage, the Sierra Railway, and their ongoing Justice and the Law Exhibit. The museum was once a jail and features stories of Tuolumne County’s lawmen. Museum visitors will be invited to the booking desk, where free mug shots will be taken in vintage clothing. Jamestown, on Saturday, features Pioneer Day. Family and children’s games begin at 10:00pm, the firing of the anvil is at noon. The event listing on the Pioneer Day is here.
