Mark Twain Medical Center Health Fair This Saturday
Mark Twain Medical Center will be holding its 16th Annual Fall Health Fair on Saturday, from 7 AM through Noon at the center’s campus in San Andreas.
Mark Twain Medical Center Marketing Manager Nicki Stevens was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
Dozens of community health groups and vendors will participate in this community event. Information will be available at the event on topics such as senior health services, nutrition, fitness and diabetes.
A variety of free health screenings will be available including; body fat, physical fitness levels, colon cancer, stress levels, skin cancer screening, and metabolic screenings. Also, child fluoride varnish application kits, adult flu shots and chair massages are available for free.
Low cost testing and services include Blood Analysis ($45) and Bone Density Screenings ($10).
“Each year we look forward to the privilege to work with our community partners to provide these vital health care services to our Calaveras County neighbors,” said Stevens. She also noted the fun run/walks. “Not only do they raise funds for a good cause, they also provide opportunities for friends and family to enjoy exercising together.”
The 5K Fun Run Against Cancer will also be held on the day of the Health Fair at 8:30AM. For race information, call (209) 754-9362.

Several Health Fairs are scheduled each year to provide health care information and low cost screenings for our community. In the month of October is our Annual Health fair on the hospital campus. Over 60 community organizations participate each year, providing information about available insurance programs, nutrition, support groups, etc. Flu and pneumonia shots, blood tests, and bone density studies are just a sampling of some of the screenings that are available.
Our Spring Health Fair is held in March at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys. Much like the health fair at the hospital campus, this health fair kicks off a full month of health-related activities at the Ironstone facility. A 5K Fun Run/Walk is also a yearly tradition.
The hospital also provides “mini” health fairs throughout the community, with a focus on screenings and immunizations. Schedules and locations vary; please call the Health Fair line at 209-754-2564 for more information.
