Evidence Hearing On Rim Fire

Fresno, CA — A hearing regarding evidence in the arson case against the Columbia man accused of setting the Rim Fire was held in a federal court in Fresno today.  Prosecutors say Keith Emerald was hunting deer with a bow when he lost control of an illegal campfire August 17 of last year.

U.S. Attorney’s Office Spokesperson Lauren Horwood says, “It was a status conference where discovery information on the case was turned over to Emerald’s defense attorney.”

Emerald did appear in court even though Horwood says he has a waiver of appearance filed so he is not required to attend.

The next court date for Emerald is December 3 in Fresno for another status conference.
