Four Arrested In Warrant Sweep

Angels Camp, CA –Officers from the Angels Camp and Sonora Police Departments took part in a warrant sweep aimed at DUI offenders in Calaveras County.

As previously reported, the two departments have joined forces, thanks to funding from a state grant focused on prior DUI offenders with active warrants for their arrest for DUI related offenses.  On Wednesday, from 2-7 p.m., teams of officers did a sweep of locations in the county, seeking to find and arrest offenders.  Below is the Department’s list of the four arrests made during the five-hour operation:

1) Mario Raymond Espinoza Jr., a 59-year-old Copperopolis resident, was arrested on three (3) outstanding warrants, one of which was issued by the Tuolumne County Superior Court. The related charges on the warrants were driving on a suspended driver license, felony DUI, and misdemeanor DUI.

2) Roger Earl Brown, a 67-year-old Angels Camp resident had a 1992 Calaveras County Superior Court warrant out for charges related to misdemeanor DUI.

3) Brian James Lujan, a 28-year-old Copperopolis resident, arrested on three (3) outstanding warrants, faces charges related to violation of probation, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, and DUI.

4) Timothy Phillip Engleman, a 43-year-old Copperopolis resident, was arrested on two (2) outstanding warrants, one from 2009 and one from 2010, for charges related to DUI, driving on a suspended driver license, domestic violence, and violation of a domestic violence restraining order.

The state funding runs through September allowing for more warrant sweeps, DUI checkpoints, and DUI saturation patrols in the future.
