San Andreas, CA – Fire stations in the Cal Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit will open Monday, May 4TH at 8 a.m.
The seasonal fire stations coverage includes Tuolumne, Calaveras, Eastern Stanislaus and Eastern San Joaquin counties. Cal Fire reports that over the past few weeks the unit has increased its staff through rehiring and begun training. Cal Fire spokesperson Lisa Williams says the total seasonal number will not increase in 2015. She explains, “A third of our fleet will have four fire fighters per engine and the rest will be at 30 staffing, which is the same as last year.”
The stations and equipment will be staffed on a 24-hour basis for fire season. As previously reported, the unit will transition from having seven engines, up to 14. Additionally, air tankers are scheduled to arrive around May 18th to round out the entire unit.
