Updated: Vallecito Fire Contained

Updated at 3:11pm: The vegetation fire burning outside of Vallecito has been contained at five acres. CAL Fire spokesperson Lisa Williams reports that one outbuilding was damaged, but no homes. Firefighters will remain on scene this afternoon to mop-up and monitor the fire. The cause is under investigation.

Original story at 2:55pm: Vallecito, CA — There is a five acre fire on Ponderosa Way in Vallecito that is threatening eight residential structures.

The road heading into the subdivision, off Highway 4, is currently blocked. Firefighters are battling the blaze from both the air and ground. CAL Fire reports that the fire is 60% contained.
