Update 2:30 p.m.: Cal Fire reports the fire has grown from 1/4 to 1 1/4 acres, but the forward progress has been stopped. Additionally, crews have mitigated the threat to one nearby structure, according to Cal Fire spokesperson Lisa Williams. She adds, “Columbia Air [Attack] has been called off the scene but ground crews continue to work to contain the fire, which is under investigation.”
Original Post 2:03 p.m.: Chinese Camp, CA — Firefighters are headed to a grass fire in Chinese Camp on the 13700 block of Red Hill Road.
Cal Fire reports the fire is a 1/4 acre in size and is threatening a structure. There were reports of people throwing buckets of water on the flames as crews arrived on the scene. There is no word on rate of spread. Columbia Air-Attack has been called to the scene.
